A WOMAN suffered head injuries after her car left a rural road and overturned.

In her 20s, she had to be cut free from her grey Fiat by firefighters.

The accident happened in Vinnetrow Road in the hamlet of Runcton, north of Chichester, yesterday at about 9.30pm.

Fire crews from Chichester and Bognor used hydraulic cutting gear to prise open the vehicle, which was on its side, and get her out in a job lasting more than an hour.

She was taken to Southampton Hospital.

The road was closed until the scene was made safe and the vehicle was recovered at about 11.40pm.

Police are asking for any witnesses who saw the car travelling south at the time to email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101, quoting serial 1257 of 24/04.
