It's quite appalling to see the housing industry mafia opposing home information packs (Letters, May 30).

With help from their friends in the Commons and friends in the media they have set out to discredit what is a great idea.

Why would anyone object to a home having one survey in place, rather than buyers having to fork out for several, each time a sale goes wonky?

All the Hip does is pass the cost on to the seller instead of the buyer.

Nothing else has changed. The cost of the pack is cancelled out by the seller buying his or her new home.

How appalling that a cartel of socalled housing professionals want to block the energy effiency certificate, too. This industry is elitist, classist and anti-green. It needs shaking up.

Make no mistake - the public will note that the Tories, the Lib Dems, conveyancers, surveyors and estate agents tried to block home information packs and that includes the energy performance certificate, They care more for their moneymaking monopoly than the environment.
