A SHOP assistant was held at knifepoint by a robber who demanded cash be handed over.

At around 9.15pm on Tuesday, the shop assistant at The Larder Store in Seaside, Eastbourne, was confronted by a masked man who demanded he hand over money from the till while threatening him with a knife.

The assistant, who was shaken but otherwise unhurt, placed £150 of banknotes on the counter which the robber picked up before making off on foot in the direction of Firle Road.

He is described as slim, 5ft 7in to 5ft 8in, and thought to be in his 20s, wearing a woollen mask, a black hooded fleece jacket, black gloves and possibly jeans.

Police are investigating and would like to hear from anyone who may have noticed the suspect or who may have other information.
