I am amused and amazed how many people responded to my letter (Letters, May 24) telling me and even scolding me for not making the effort of returning the zimmer frame and foot stool to the hospital. The simple answer is that they don't want it. They didn't answer my letters to tell me what to do.

Only after my letter appeared in The Argus did I discover that there is an entirely separate equipment centre that deals with this. It is understandable that the hospital would not want to have equipment returned to them from patients' homes when sensible hygiene would indicate that it needs to be properly sterilised and stored before it can be used again.

If anybody is interested, the place where equipment is taken care of is the Integrated Community Equipment Service, Belgrave Centre, Clarendon Place, Portslade BN41 1DJ.
