SWEDISH furniture giant Ikea admits it is looking at a potential site in Sussex.
Rumours have been circulating the firm could move to New Monks Farm, in Lancing, following Brighton and Hove Albion’s purchase of the site.
The club’s executive director Martin Perry confirmed the club had purchased the flood-prone land, controversially earmarked for 600 homes.
The emerging Adur local plan also makes provision for “employment space” and a new primary school.
An Ikea spokesman said: “We have been evaluating a number of potential sites for an Ikea store in West Sussex.
“At this stage we are only making preliminary inquiries and have nothing further to confirm.”
New Monks Farm lies north of Albion’s elite football performance centre.
According to Companies House records, New Monks Farm Development Limited’s registered address was changed to Albion’s Amex stadium on April 7.
A number of new directors, including Mr Perry, were appointed shortly beforehand.
