IT'S OFFICIAL. The nation's best burger has been found in Brighton.

Burger Brothers, in Brighton's North Laine, has been crowned the winner of Britain's Best Burger competition.

Hundreds of patties around the country - including some from the most high profile chains - were judged by a team of experts who decided the Brighton duo's creations were the tastiest.

The North Road takeaway, run by best friends and business partners - not brothers- Nadz Nwokoro and Pip Ravindra, has been crowned the nation's undisputed burger kings.

Chef Nadz has cooked every single burger served up in the three years they have been open and said the secret to their perfect burgers was the personal touch.

He said: “We are so unbelievably proud and grateful to be awarded the Britain's Best Burger title.

"For such a small independent company to be acknowledged is truly mind-blowing.

"We accept this on behalf of burger lovers everywhere, but special thanks to the people of Brighton and Hove."

Blogger Gavin Lucas, who is known as Burgerac, led the team of judges who voted that the friends creation

He said: "Burger Brothers is a worthy winner of our competition.

"It is burger excellence delivered by very nice guys on an unassuming street in Brighton. They don’t conform to any standard formula yet combine quality ingredients in way that delivers pure eating joy.

"Its famous Benneton Burger is a great example of this because they slice the mushrooms and chorizo super thin and include just enough of every ingredient to strike a perfect balance. Looking forward to my next visit."

The Burger Brothers use whole muscle cuts of meat - minced on the premises - in their patties.

The buns are baked especially for them by a local baker who delivers them to the shop every morning.

And the takeaway buck the trend for burger joints by refusing to serve chips - preferring to focus on perfecting their masterpiece patties.

Pip said: "It is nice to get this kind of recognition.

"The competition in particular in Brighton is really high.

"But it's great to be told we're better.

"We are a small independent business doing everything for ourselves.We cant believe how well it has gone, especially as neither of us has ever been in the catering industry before."
