UNIVERSITY students and staff have helped to clean up a Brighton street.
The University of Sussex’s Housing Services team took part in a litter pick in Beaconsfield Road in the city.
The team of 11 council workers, local residents, students and volunteers spent last Tuesday clearing rubbish, sweeping pavements and removing graffiti.
The volunteers estimate they removed a ton of waste and debris in the clean-up, in what is the second city street to get the treatment this year. The same team tackled Viaduct Road in June, leaving with more than 100 bags of rubbish.
The subsequent two street cleans have already been scheduled for 2017 – Wellington Road, in Hanover, in February and, next June, Riley Road and Coombe Road.
