AN ACTOR who appeared in Pirates of the Caribbean will introduce the acts for a charity concert.

Screen, stage and television actor, Israel Oyelumade, who played a crippled man alongside the likes of Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, will be introducing the acts at the City Charity Christmas Carol Concert.

The funds raised will go towards The Argus Appeal, the charity of The Argus newspaper, and The Martlets Hospice.

All are invited to All Saints Church in The Drive, Hove, on December 1 for a night of festive magic as the Brighton Orpheus Choir and Orpheus Young Singers sing many of the Christmas classics.

They will be joined by the Hangleton Band and Sussex Flutes.

Stella Hull, Brighton Orpheus musical director, said: "It will make a lovely introduction to the Christmas month and we are really glad to be involved in this charity concert."

Among carols to be sung on the night are Silent Night and Hark the Herald Angels Sing.

Next year The Argus Appeal will celebrate 60 years of supporting people in need in our community. Elsa Gillio, The Argus Appeal co-ordinator, said: "The concert will be a fantastic night and a great way to end the year, as we prepare to celebrate The Argus Appeal's 60th anniversary in 2017.

"The funds raised will go towards The Argus Appeal's great work at the heart of the community and will allow us to make even more of a difference to local people in need."

Tickets are £5 and £10 depending on where you sit and are available from The Martlets Hospice in Wayfield Avenue, Hove, or the hospice shops in Brighton, Hove, Lewes, Peacehaven, Woodingdean and Rottingdean.

They can also be bought on the door.

David Goldin, chairman of the concert committee, said: "The money raised will go to The Martlets and The Argus Appeal.

"Both these excellent caring charities continue to help the needs of those in our community. It is a continual struggle to raise the funds needed to help and support the vital needs of so many.

"We do need your support and hopefully visitors will give generously to allow the important work of both charities to continue. Every penny you give will make a real difference to those less fortunate than ourselves."

The concert will start at 7pm. To book online visit themartlets.org.uk/events.
