A YOUNG actress has taken India by storm after appearing in a Bollywood feature film.

Abigail Eames takes centre stage in Indian action thriller Shivaay.

The 13-year-old from Worthing plays Gaura, the kidnapped daughter of protagonist Shivaay, who fights to save his daughter from child traffickers in Bulgaria.

Since its release in October the film has picked up rave reviews and has been a hit at the box office.

Talking about the experience the Chatsmore Catholic High School pupil said: “I’m really excited and happy because it’s something not many people my age get to experience.”

Abigail was chosen for the role after impressing casting directors with her screen test and audition before starting filming in November 2014.

Since then Abigail has racked up air miles filming in Bulgaria and at the Indian cities New Delhi and Hyderabad.

The 13-year-old stars alongside actor Ajay Devgan, who is also the film’s director.

Ajay is considered as one of the most popular actors in Hindi cinema, and has appeared in over a hundred Hindi films and won numerous awards.

“I really liked the atmosphere on set - the people were really colourful and spiritual,” Abigail said. “They were all such beautiful people.

“It was like a family feel on set, so it helped when you had to hard scenes.”

She started acting at the age of eight and has since had parts in Dr Who and Casualty, but she describes Shivaay as the biggest thing she’s ever done.

Abigail recently returned from promoting the film in India, and even appeared on the country’s popular TV show The Kapil Sharma Show.

She said: “India is a completely different place and seeing things there makes you appreciate what you’ve got, so it was a great experience.”

Proud mum Genienne Eames is delighted at her daughter’s new found stardom.

She said: “She was very busy, she was doing interviews all over the place in Delhi.

“It was manic -lots of paparazzi and photographers everywhere, it was crazy.

“We managed to watch the film when we were out there and I cried.

“I know how much she has worked for this.

“It was hard going being in another country filming, but I’m very proud.”

After working on her first film, now Abigail is setting her sights on more acting roles and the bright lights of Hollywood.

She said: “I want to carry on acting.

“I really want to go to Hollywood and more British TV shows.”

You can see Shivaay at a special screening at The Connaught Theatre in Worthing. It is being held on Saturday, November 26 at 2pm with tickets at £4.
