TRIBUTES have been paid to an Army veteran who died in a crash.

A tipper truck driven by Christopher Rudling, 60, crashed into the central reservation of the A27 near the Sussex/Hampshire border on Monday, January 16, at 4pm.

The family of Mr Rudling, who lived in Waterlooville in Hampshire, have paid tribute to a “loving family man”.

His daughter Poppy said: “Dad was such a hard- working, caring man with a positive spirit.

“He joined the Army when he was really young and learnt how to drive a lorry. He spent the rest of his working life behind the wheel and often gave up his free time doing odd jobs to help pay the bills.

“He really was a loving family man and he would do anything for anyone, he was so generous. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.”

He leaves Poppy, 25, Joe, 28, and stepchildren Josh, 31 and Hayley, 35.

Sergeant Peter Verney said: “We are still investigating the collision and would ask anyone who was in the area and who saw what happened to contact us.”

The crash took place just after 4pm.

Witnesses can email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101.
