THE hills, as well as bushes, banks and verges, will have eyes from this morning as part of a council crackdown on dog fouling.

Brighton and Hove City Council has put up “eye-catching” posters around the city overnight as part of a new campaign to tackle the long standing problem of dog fouling.

The posters have luminous eyes which shine in the dark while street cleaners will mark the spot on pavements where mess has been cleared up with a washable stencil dog.

The “We’re watching you campaign” was launched in other areas of the country last year by Keep Britain Tidy and led to an average reduction of 46 per cent in the levels of dog fouling.

Councillor Gill Mitchell said most incidents of dog fouling happened after dark. To report dog fouling call 01273 292929.
