A MOTORCYCLIST who was in a collision with a vehicle towing a horsebox has died in hospital.
The incident took place in Station Road, Berwick, on Sunday, March 19.
The rider, a 23-year-old man from Seaford, sustained multiple injuries in the crash which happened at around 12.15pm near the entrance to Arlington Reservoir.
He was taken by ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital where he passed away this afternoon.
The Land Rover Defender that the motorcyclist collided with was driven by a 58-year-old man from Berwick, who sustained minor injuries that did not require hospital treatment.
Police are continuing to seek witnesses to the crash or anyone who saw either of the two vehicles involved shortly before the collision.
In particular, officers are keen to speak to the occupants of a dark-coloured people carrier which was seen to pass over the level crossing at Berwick railway station moments before the motorcyclist.
Anyone with information is asked to email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk, to report details online at sussex.police.uk/contact-us/response-to-appeal/ or to call 101, quoting Operation Chesterfield.
