Carol Theobald is a city councillor for Patcham ward. She is the Conservative Party spokeswoman for the planning committee and former mayor of Brighton and Hove.

What is your favourite place in Sussex?

Favourite place is Brighton and Hove especially the seafront and the magical Royal Pavilion.

What do you love most about living in Sussex?

I love the city because of the vibrant culture that of course includes the Brighton Festival and Fringe. I like to potter around our wonderful Lanes and North Laine. There is always so much to do in Brighton and Hove.

What advice do you have for your 12-year-old self?

Try to learn from your mistakes. Don’t worry what people think. Do your best as it pays off in the end and have respect for yourself.

What is your most valued possession?

My most valuable possessions would probably be all the photographs of my earlier years and family photos of my husband, our four children and seven grandchildren.

What is your biggest regret?

I do not actually do regrets but I should have attended the Lucie Clayton Modelling School in London when I was awarded a place.

What is your biggest fear?

Biggest fear is not being fit enough to enjoy my Latin dancing. I also don’t like heights.

What is your proudest achievement?

My proudest achievement is being elected to Brighton and Hove Council for Patcham ward where I was born and then becoming mayor. And in my younger days being fortunate to win 47 beauty titles and being employed by Eric Morley, organiser of the Miss World contest, to work on the QE2.

Which five people (living or dead) would you invite to your fantasy dinner party?

The five people I would invite to my fantasy dinner party would be Elvis Presley, Princess Diana, Marilyn Munroe , Patrick Swayze and Tommy Cooper. I would like to discuss their lives, enjoy some singing from Elvis and few jokes from Tommy.

I would like to add that I would not like to live anywhere else and that I am very proud of Brighton and Hove and enjoy living in the city by the sea.
