A man has appeared in court accused of dangerous driving after a police chase that resulted in a pedestrian being killed.
Richard Woolgar, 35, of Donald Hall Road, appeared at Brighton Magistrates' Court this afternoon.
Woolgar is accused of racing a Vauxhall Zafira against Gavin Dawes', who went on to knock down and kill Jonos Sasvari, 78, at the Old Steine, Brighton at around 10pm on January 10.
Brighton magistrates decided Woolgar's case was too serious to deal with and he will be sent to Lewes Crown Court for trial.
He was released on bail on the condition he does not drive any vehicle.
