THE largest state school in West Sussex has been rated good with outstanding features by inspectors.
Steyning Grammar School headteacher Nick Wergan said he was “delighted” with the Ofsted inspection rating under a “new and tougher framework” introduced since its previous inspection in 2013.
The school, which dates back more than 400 years and is the only state school in West Sussex to offer boarding, was also recently judged outstanding from Ofsted for boarding and its outstanding SIAMS (Church of England) inspection.
Mr Wergan said: “I am delighted that the inspection team confirmed that our previous Ofsted judgements remain in place. The targets Ofsted set us for further improvement were already in our school development plan and Ofsted acknowledged the ‘green shoots’ in these areas.”
