ON THESE pages in the run up to this weekend we have seen plenty of pictures of previous occasions where the Albion stars paraded along the seafront on an open top bus, including 1979 and 2011.

They were wonderful pictures.

They fill you with a feeling of nostalgia, those smiling faces in the sun, a happier, more innocent time, maybe.

Well jump forward to 2017 and the crowds were no less euphoric yesterday.

Taking a stroll across Marine Parade and down to Madeira Drive some of the weekend team here at The Argus were confronted by a joyous spectacle.

Young and old were there, clad in blue and white and all looking for a good spot to watch the parade of buses file past so they could cheer them on.

It was fantastic to see so many people looking so happy.

No doubt the party spirit will mean a few sore heads this morning but that will have been the case in the old days too, if the stories are to be believed.

What the future holds is difficult to predict, with Brexit and the General Election looming.

Yesterday was a day to savour the moment, the joy of it all.

We may not have won the Championship but did that matter yesterday? We don’t think so.

The Albion came so close a year ago and everybody felt down. Now we really know why – we missed out on the big party.

But yesterday the city and fans from further afield took the chance to enjoy every single moment.

As our front page says, what a day to remember.

Let’s not worry about how we’ll get on in the Premier League just yet.

Saviour the moment.
