Doktor Haze is the “undead ringmaster” and creator of The Circus of Horrors and a Parliamentary candidate for Brighton Kemptown.

What is your favourite place in Sussex?

Brighton of course. The Circus of Horrors performed its first commercial shows in Brighton then returned three years later to perform in Preston Park.

So coming back to Preston Park on May 27 and June 3 is great for me.

What do you love most about Sussex?

I love the diversity and tolerance of different people and cultures in Brighton, its the quirkiest place on Earth.

Plus it’s going to be hosting the quirkiest show on Earth when The Circus of Horrors arrives and hopefully it will vote for the quirkiest political candidate on Earth – Doktor Haze.

Advice for yourself at 12?

When I was 12 I left school and became a circus fire eater, which was great but I did miss out on formal education.

So I could have combined the two, school and fire (without setting the school on fire) that would be great.

What is your most valued possession?

I’ve got a 1970s’ Wurlitzer juke box that has 50 seven-inch singles on it. Each single is from the 70s, and 25 are T Rex. What makes it even better is I bought it in Brighton.

What is your biggest regret?

I wish I had started The Circus of Horrors earlier – if I knew then what I know now.

Also I regret not meeting Marc Bolan when I had the opportunity to.

What is your biggest fear?

What is your proudest achievement?

Taking The Circus of Horrors all over the world and touring for an amazing 22 years. People thought it wouldn’t last 22 weeks let alone 22 years.

Which five people (living or dead) would you invite to your fantasy dinner party?

Marc Bolan, Adolf Hitler, the Preston North End legend Tom Finney, Elvira Mistress of the Dark, the creation of American actress Cassandra Peterson, and PT Barnum.

Im sure Marc Bolan would love PT Barnum and vice versa. Tom Finney would be unassuming and would think he had walked into the Star Wars Bar. God knows what Adolf Hitler would think of it.
