WHAT is absolutely crystal clear from these election results is that millions of people have been energised by hope.

They have wholeheartedly rejected the hateful policies of a UKIP-flavoured Tory Party.

The loss of a slim majority, inherited from her predecessor, in a snap election called at a time when the opposition was at its weakest and most divided is, unequivocally, a disaster.

It is a disaster for the UK’s not so “strong and stable” Prime Minister.

At polling stations across the country, the public voted to reject Theresa May’s plea for a Brexit blank cheque.

Voters are not prepared to trust a Tory Party that communicates in meaningless soundbites.

Or a Tory Party which offers no real plan for Brexit.

After all this is the most important political process Britain has faced for generations.

More people voted against the Tories’ Brexit shambles than voted Leave in the EU referendum.

Some people might still want to leave the EU.

But they’re not prepared to be blindly led off an extreme Brexit cliff edge.

The need for a referendum on the terms of the Brexit deal, once they are known, is clearer than ever.

The Greens will continue pushing the Government, whatever form it takes, to deliver that.
