THE new station for Volk’s Railway has been lifted into place.
Workmen used a crane to hoist the pre-built station to its home on Brighton seafront on Thursday night.
The Aquarium Station, which is near the beach close to the Sea Life Centre in Marine Parade, was designed by Hove architects ABIR and built by Boutique Modern at its warehouse in Newhaven.
It was due to be lifted into place on Thursday morning but the work was delayed because of high winds.
It was finally installed later on Thursday evening when the weather calmed down.
The new station, which will also house a new visitor centre, is part of a £1.65 million Heritage Lottery-funded improvement scheme. This will also see three of the original carriages restored and a new workshop.
