Jewellery, an Apple laptop and a mountain bike were among items stolen in afternoon raid by a burglar.
The suspect targeted a first-floor flat in Pangdean Court, St Michael's Road, Worthing, between 3pm and 5pm on Wednesday June 14.
The burglar entered the communal area of the property, which is a house converted into flats, and then got into a first-floor flat while its occupants were out.
Stolen items included vintage Sekonda watches, a silver Links of London necklace, a MacBook Pro Laptop and an Apple Green Core Genesis mountain bike.
Later an attempt was made to steal the laptop in a local shop that same afternoon, but the suspect fled the scene empty-handed when challenged by staff.
DC Gavin Percival, of the Worthing community investigation team, said: "Burglars have no respect for property and can strike anywhere."
Police are asking witnesses to email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101, quoting serial 1041 of 14/06.
Alternatively, they can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 (www.crimsestoppers-uk.org).
