A VAN smashed into level crossing barriers before driving off.
Sussex Police are investigating after a van collided with one of the closed crossing barriers at Portslade Railway Station before driving from the scene at just after 11.15am.
A Sussex Police spokesman said there are no reports of injuries or any other damage apart from to the barriers.
Trains continued to run despite the incident but the crossing in Station Road, Portslade, was closed to traffic for a time to allow Network Rail to make repairs.
Police said in the immediate aftermath of the crash, the van had not been traced.
