THE Brighton Zip is starting to take shape.

Workers have spent the last few days constructing the 300 metre zip wire ride, which will open later in the summer.

The £1.7 million attraction has been billed as a replacement for the Brighton Wheel which was removed when the i360 opened.

The spiral staircase tower is already in place and workers are now working on the landing area.

The tower is 75ft (22.5 metres) high and has a 300m long zip which will run to a boat-like structure in Madeira Drive, opposite the bottom of Atlingworth Street.

Developers expect the zip wire to attract around 32,000 visitors a year, based on a maximum of 24 riders an hour on the two cables.

It will be open all year round from 10am until 11pm. An exact opening date has not been revealed.
