FLORAL tributes have been left in memory of an elderly man killed when he was hit by a police car.
David Ormesher was struck by the marked Ford Mondeo estate car at 12.50am on Friday in Edward Street, Brighton.
The 79-year-old, from Poole in Dorset, died by the junction of Devonshire Place at around 2am.
Three bouquets of flowers were taped to a lamp post yesterday in his memory.
One read: "To lovely Dave, thank you for looking after us, Louise and family."
Others expressed their love for Mr Ormesher.
Police tried in vain to resuscitate him as he lay motionless in the middle of the road.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission is now investigating how the accident happened - particularly the speed of the car and whether lights and sirens were being used at the time.
