ARMED police were called to an industrial estate where a half-naked man is running around on the rooftops, possibly with a weapon.
Firefighters and a trained negotiator have also been on the scene in Artex Avenue in Rustington on Saturday evening.
Emergency services were called at around 7pm and received reports the man was carrying a knife.
Eye witnesses said he was running around the tops of industrial roofs.
A Sussex Police spokeswoman said: "A man was arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage after he climbed onto a roof of a building in Artex Avenue, Rustington, at 7pm on Saturday, "The 26-year-old man threw tiles from the roof at two police cars causing damage.
Armed officers were called after it was initially believed he was in possession of a knife.
Police spent two hours negotiating with him before he agreed to come down off the roof on a aerial platform provided by fire and rescue. No knife was found."
