SNOWDOG lovers have one last chance to buy a model of their own.

Two more specially designed Snowpuppies will go under the hammer at the end of the month in aid of The Martlets.

The auction takes place at the hospice’s Halloween ball at The Grand hotel on Saturday, October 28.

Tickets are still on sale and guests will be invited to bid.

Artists are putting the finishing touches to the uniquely decorated miniature Snowdogs in the wake of last year’s successful charity art trail of more than 40 sculptures around Brighton and Hove.

Now Steve Mason and Jason Mcquillen, who both designed giant models for the main trail, have spent time decorating the puppies for the ball.

Steve, who has been working on his design at his home in Southwick has decided to call the Snowpuppy Lilypup to reflect his colourful work incorporating lily pads.

The artist who was behind the Mod Snowdog on the main trail said: “This design is a little bit different but still full of colour.

“It is based around the idea of a fish pond and I wanted it to be something that could work well in someone’s garden.

“I’ve actually been able to fit this mini Snowdog in my house to work on it which has been good.

“For the giant one I had to go to a garage in Goring as it was the only place that it could fit in.

“I’ve always supported The Martlets as I used to work there so I was really happy to be involved again.”

Jason’s design is all about love and how it brings people together.

Jason, also known as Brighton artist iownthisart who designed the Blot Snowdog for the main trail, said: “The Martlets looked after my nan last year so I am always happy to help them and be a part of this.

“I really enjoyed being part of the Snowdog project. It was great fun so I’m really happy to now be designing a Snowpuppy.

“Funnily enough, I think it was easier to design a bigger one but this has been really good fun too.

“This time I wanted the message behind the Snowpuppy to be about being free and ‘love is all it takes’.

“I’ve been designing it in a shop window so people passing by can see.

“Kids love it and have been coming in to have a look.”

Organiser Emma Knight said: “There are still a few tickets left for our Halloween ball, so now’s the time to sign-up.

“It’s the last chance you’ll ever have to bid for a Snowdog puppy.

“It’s going to be quite a night, with dancing until the small hours, raising money that will help us to care for families.”
