EMERGENCY services were called to rescue a man from under Brighton Palace Pier.
Fire crews, police, Coastguard and the RNLI were all called to the man seen underneath the pier just before 4am.
By 5am the man had been successfully coaxed down to safety.
Brighton RNLI tweeted: "Launched at 03.47 to a despondent male at Brighton Pier. Multi agency response. Resolved after negotiations, with male landed to Boathouse."
