A food blogger is to appear in the Hairy Bikers’ festive TV programme.

Eshe Brown, of Foodie Eshe, has been running her blog online for three years, writing product and restaurant reviews, food guides and news along the way.

After winning funding from her former employer, Brighton digital marketing agency Propellernet, Ms Brown took her dream to the next level, buying a caravan to travel and explore cuisines in other countries.

The news drew attention from television executives who work with BBC food presenters the Hairy Bikers.

Ms Brown, 29, who lives in Hassocks, said: “A while ago I announced I was buying a caravan to make into a mobile kitchen.

“I was soon contacted by the production company that works with the Hairy Bikers, who got in touch saying they would be working on a show with home cooks.

“They asked me to put together a proposal of things I would cook –from then I’ve just been practising, making sure I know the recipes by heart.”

Ms Brown will show off four home-cooked recipes across four episodes of the Hairy Bikers’ Home For Christmas series on BBC One, which begins on Monday and runs for two weeks, with other bloggers and celebrities taking part.

Her recipes can all be easily replicated at home as gifts for the festive season and include hot chocolate spoons, candied chocolate orange slices, redcurrant and rosemary-infused olive oil and a home-made mulled wine kit.

She said: “The idea was to come up with something that’s simple, something people can recreate at home.

“Obviously if you’re blogging or chef-ing you’re trying to impress and show off your skills but I’m more of a home cook.”

The blogger, who grew up in a home-cooking household, is now incorporating more filming into her work and hopes appearing in the Hairy Bikers’ programme will enhance her appeal.

She said: “I’ve always been mad about food – it’s inbuilt.

“My mum is an amazing home cook and was always showing me how to make things. I definitely need to credit her, and my uncles, for my success.

“I hope [working with the BBC] means I can do this more – at the moment I’m juggling work on the side, but I’d love to just do food.”

The Hairy Bikers Home For Christmas runs daily at 3.45pm on BBC One from December 4.
