BUILDING work will start on private members’ club Soho House in the new year.

Planning permission for the project was granted by Brighton and Hove City Council in April 2016.

However, there have been numerous delays to the Madeira Drive project.

Earlier this year council leader Warren Morgan hit out at the developers for dragging their heels.

They have responded by stating work on the site will begin in the early part of next year.

They will begin with the west end and the east end will follow.

The scheme involves building a private members’ club as well as cafes and restaurants.

The update on progress comes just days after developer Brighton Seafront Regeneration Limited (BSRL) donated £50,000 to the Madeira Terraces crowdfunding campaign.

Last week the city council hit its £421,000 corwdfunding target for the terraces. The local authority will now apply for additional funding.
