CHAILEY Heritage Foundation brought Christmas cheer to everyone with a cracker of celebratory performances from the children and young people across three different performances.

First with a festive A Little Bird Told Me play were the birds, sheep, wise men and angels of the St Martin’s Nativity, starring the youngest children.

Using voice output communication aids to tell the story of Jesus’ birth from the point of view of a flock of beautiful birds, the children were magnificent in their walkers and wheelchairs with some of them even flying high on hoists.

Next up was the Chailey Heritage Panto, themed this year as Chailey and the Chocolate Factory.

A festive take on the Roald Dahl classic, it was so successful that it ran not once but twice with performances to family and friends.

Finally came the Seymour Department play which followed an alien left behind on a visit to earth by his friends.

The alien explored all the elements of Christmas from the classical nativity to the modern Christmas lunch.

During the performance, the children demonstrated many of the skills they have been learning so far, this year including powered mobility and communication.

This year, dreams will hopefully come true as with the generous support of local people and many local businesses and a 18-month fundraising appeal, Chailey Heritage Foundation has raised more than £2.7m towards its £3.1m appeal target.

This will enable them to start building their D.R.E.A.M. (Dynamic, Real, Experiential, Amazing, Magical) Centre.

A state-of-the-art, purpose built environment, the D.R.E.A.M. Centre will be a space where the whole Chailey Heritage community can come together to celebrate achievements, show off talents and broaden their horizons.

Chailey Heritage Foundation is still fundraising for the last £300,000 to ensure that D.R.E.A.M. Centre will be fully realised and is encouraging those who would like to donate to visit www.thedreamcentreappeal.org.uk/

The D.R.E.A.M Centre will be built on Chailey Heritage Foundation’s existing site,.
