POLICE want to talk to a man in connection with unauthorised metal detecting.
He was caught on camera at Hotham Park in Bognor, which is owned by Arun District Council.
The park is an important heritage amenity for the town as it was the home of Sir Richard Hothan, the founder of modern Bognor.
The council does not allow metal detecting to be carried out there.
Community support officer Daryl Holter, heritage crime lead for Sussex Police, said: “We’d like to trace the man seen here using a metal detector in the park.
"If you know who he is, or are indeed that person, please get in touch so that we can discuss the matter."
”Unauthorised or illicit use of metal detectors can lead to permanent loss of important historical information or artefacts, and damage land."
The man was in the park at about 4pm on December 29.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police online via sussex.police.uk or call 101, quoting serial 254 of 09/01.
