A MAN has been airlifted to hospital after being hit by a car.

The 48-year-old was run over in Broadwater Road, Worthing, at midday today.

He was airlifted to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, where he is in a serious condition.

Officers are keen to speak to the driver of a green 7.5 tonne lorry which passed through the area just before the crash.

They have now issued an appeal for the lorry driver to come forward.

The lorry is a Mercedes Actros and has a white cab and blue curtained sides.

Sergeant Alan Spice, of the roads policing unit, said: "We are particularly keen to trace the lorry driver who may have seen the collision. We have been given new information about the lorry he was driving from a witness. We ask that he get in touch with us."

The driver, and anyone with information about the incident, should call Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 468 of 25/01.
