SuRie will represent the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest final in May after winning qualification event You Decide at Brighton Dome.

The singer triumphed over five competing acts including girl group Goldstone, whose singer Aimie Atkinson lives in Brighton.

The ceremony was held by former Great British Bake Off host Mel Giedroyc and Eurovision 2015 winner Mans Zelmerlow.

The action was aired on BBC Two and the winner decided through a combination of public vote and the panel's judgement.

SuRie's song Storm was a hit with the judges, with expert Tom Fletcher commenting that the crowd was singing along with her as she delivered her winning tune.

SuRie has appeared on Eurovision before - as a backing singer in 2015 and a musical director last year.

She will represent UK in the finals in Lisbon, Portugal, on May 12.
