A FORMER care home worker has been accused of a string of sexual offences against two teenage boys.

Kristopher Smith, 31, from Peacehaven, is accused of six counts of sexual activity with one of the youngsters.

It is claimed he committed the acts between 2013 and 2017, with the boy aged 14 when the alleged offences began.

Smith, a father of one, is also accused of sexually assaulting another boy aged 16 or over in December 2016.

On Thursday at Brighton Magistrates’ Court, he pleaded not guilty to all seven charges.

Smith spoke only to confirm his name and enter his plea.

He was wearing black jeans, black shoes and a flowery T-shirt, along with a black coat.

The court heard Smith had been on bail for the offences since December 12, 2016.

Smith has been released on bail until his appearance at Lewes Crown Court next month.

As one of the conditions of his bail, Smith is not allowed unsupervised access to children under the age of 16.

Genei Haines, defending Smith, said her client “had to give his notice in” after his charge.

Smith is currently unemployed, and lives with his parents and husband at his home.

Last month, The Argus reported that Smith resigned from his job at Rottingdean Nursing Home after being charged by police on January 9.

The offences he is accused of do not relate in any way to his work at the home for the elderly.

Smith’s Facebook page stated he was a support worker at the home in Newlands Road and had worked at a number of other care homes across the region in the past.

Smith, of The Bricky, Peacehaven, will attend Lewes Crown Court on March 7 for a preliminary hearing.
