A MOTORCYCLIST who found God is hoping to set up England’s first Christian motorcycle club.

Delivery driver Lee Baker, 48, is hoping to start his own troupe of Heaven’s Angels - a travelling ministry of like minded individuals finding their faith on the open road.

Bringing together his two passions he wants to saddle up with a group of other holy Davidson riders and with God on their side he is hoping they will have the revs to bring the word of the Lord to Sussex’s open roads.

Lee, who first rode a motorbike illegally as a child and now rides a Harley with the 1066 chapter had lost his faith when his father died aged 12, but when a customer told him “Jesus Loves you” it turned him on to the Bible.

He said: “The thing about most bikers theses days is it is not quite the outlaw lifestyle that people think.

“When you see a group of Harleys riding through town people stop and stare, but when they take their helmets off most of us have grey hair.

“They are mainly cuddly grandads.

“One of the members of the 1066 chapter is 86.”

Dad of four Lee was brought up Christian until e lost his faith after the death of his father.

He said: “At the time I felt that if there was a God why did he do that?

“Then a couple of years ago a customer I hadn’t seen in a long time said to me ‘remember Lee Jesus loves you.

“I thought about that for a bit then picked up a Bible and started reading.

“ There are loads of Christian motorcycle clubs in America but none here.

I found the Road Riders for Jesus and they have 288 chapters across the world but the closest is Scotland.

“The thing I love about riding my Harley is the freedom.

“I’m trying to get the message out there it’s not all hair raising and scaring everyone. “
