BRIGHTON Half Marathon participants running for local children’s charity Rockinghorse have raised more than £20,000.
A total of 73 people took part in the event for Rockinghorse, all braving the bitterly cold weather conditions to represent the charity and raise vital funds. £20,222 has been raised so far, with money still being donated through individuals Just Giving fundraising pages.
It’s the single biggest amount to be raised by the charity’s Brighton Half Marathon participants, making 2018 a record-breaking year. All funds raised will go towards Rockinghorse’s £100,000 project appeal for the Trevor Mann Baby Unit.
The charity aims to provide new digital X-ray imaging equipment for the specialist neonatal unit, which cares for almost 600 babies a year. The machine will provide staff at the TMBU with instant X-ray images and will significantly improve the overall experience of a preterm infant who typically requires multiple X-rays to be taken during their admission.
