A CHILDREN and young adults’ charity is staging a new fun charity event to boost its Dream Appeal.

Chailey Heritage Foundation, near Lewes, has announced the launch of a new run – the Focus 10k.

It will take place on June 3 at Borde Hill Garden, Haywards Heath, with profits going to the foundation.

Telecommunications provider Focus Group is the sponsor.

Money raised will go towards the DREAM. Centre Appeal for a purpose-built environment where the whole Chailey Heritage community can come together to take part in sports such as wheelchair football and trampolining, as well as drama, dance and other performances.

Chailey Heritage Foundation is still fundraising for the last £300,000 to ensure that the centre can be built.

Development director Sally-Anne Murray said: “We hope this event will help us with the final push to reach our target for the DREAM Centre Appeal, which will be such an amazing facility for the children and young people at Chailey Heritage.

“We are absolutely delighted that Focus Group is partnering with us for this exciting new event – without them it just would not be possible.”

The run, which will encompass a 10k option, a 5k option and a mini mile for children, is the first of its kind to take place through the grounds and parkland of Borde Hill Garden.

The run will be open to all levels of runners from beginners running for fun, through to those training for other events or who are looking for a new route to challenge themselves.

As well as the opportunity to complete the course, there will be exciting child-centric activities for the whole family including face painters, a bouncy castle, hot food and refreshments.

Those interested in running to raise funds can sign up at www.runchaileyheritage.org.uk or go to the Facebook page (runchaileyheritage) to find out more. Entry is £20 for the 10k, £15 for the 5k and £10 for the mini mile.
