A PROLIFIC shoplifter with an eye for a flawless complexion is behind bars after stealing hundreds of pounds worth of cosmetics.

Sussex Police released a photo of Daniel Ghasemi in the hope shopkeepers will be alert to the career thief.

In the past year alone he has been before the courts for at least six different crimes - and has helped himself to hundreds of pounds of goods from shops across Hove.

In his latest crime - which landed drug user Ghasemi an eight-week spell behind bars - he stole a face cream from Boots in George Street, Hove, on March 1.

He was already serving a community order for six previous counts of shoplifting.

In August last year Ghasemi - who also goes by the name Boghasemi - stole more than £200 worth of goods from Boots in Boundary Road, Hove.

Just a week earlier he stole £347 worth of cosmetics from Superdrug in Hove.

Last May he helped himself to another £224 of healthcare products from Superdrugs.

In December and January he failed to attend appointments with probation services.

In November he did not attend court ordered drug treatment .

Regularly targetting Boots and Superdrug stores across Hove and Portslade, on other occasions he stole electrical goods, razors and toothbrushes.

A spokesman for Sussex police said: “Daniel Ghasemi appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (27 March) charged with the theft of face creams from Boots in George Street, Hove, on 1 March.

“He was also charged with failing to attend a drug dependency assessment on 1 March, and committing an offence while serving a community order.

“The 31-year-old, unemployed and of no fixed address, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a total of eight weeks’ imprisonment, and ordered to pay £100 compensation.

“Prior to this conviction, Ghasemi had been subject to a community order imposed by magistrates on 10 November. This was in relation to a number of shoplifting offences he was convicted of in the Brighton and Hove area.”
