The husband of a woman found dead on Friday has paid a touching tribute to her, saying she was a “wonderful mother”.

Although formal identification is yet to take place, the woman who was discovered at a house in South Farm Road, Worthing, is believed to be 35-year-old Maryna Kavaliauskas.

She was found by her distraught brother and cousin on Friday morning.

Her husband of 15 years, Giedrius Kavaliauskas, 37, said she was a wonderful mother to their two children, who are nine and 12, and that they were a very happy family.

The family have asked for their privacy to be respected at this difficult time.

Mrs Kavaliauskas was found in the bedroom of her marital home alongside a man, who is believed to be Viasia Chernoff, known sometimes as Alex Chernoff, who was 43.

They were known to each other but not related.

A post mortem carried out on Saturday established Mrs Kavaliauskas died from ligature compression to the neck and Viasia died from hanging.

Neighbours said Giedrius took their two children to see family abroad four days ago.

Detective Superintendent Adam Hibbert, of the Sussex and Surrey Major Crime Team, said: “At the present time we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation and our enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances of the deaths.

“I would discourage anyone from speculating as to what has happened as we have a distraught family with two young children trying to come to terms with their loss and to start grieving.

“Our thoughts are with the families at this difficult time.”

The couple moved in to the house in 2007 and lived there with their two children who attended a local primary school.

Mr Kavaliauskas was convicted for conspiring to import and supply cocaine into Britain across the Channel in high speed inflatable boats and was jailed for eight years in 2009.

A neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: “They were quiet and respectful and didn’t cause anyone any trouble.

“She adored her children and her two pugs.”

Chris Denyer, 52, said: “There was a couple living there and the husband is currently abroad in Lithuania with their two kids.

“The wife and someone else is dead inside the property, but how they died I have no idea.

“They’ve lived there for a good few years, it is a rented property.”

Another neighbour who refused to be named said: “They were a lovely addition to the neighbourhood.

“It was very nice to talk to them when I passed them in the street.

“I mostly talked to the mum and she was really nice.

“The kids go to the school I used to go to as well. They are fairly young.”
