THE brother of a man who killed his boss asked him “are you going to have an affair with her?”

Barry Browning, the younger brother of David Browning, told a jury he had “concerns” when he heard he was going to meet Jillian Howell outside work.

Mr Browning said: “I did say to Dave out of concern because he was going for a drink with this lady was he looking at having an affair with her or going down that road.

“He replied to me ‘don’t be daft, I love Debs.”

Asked by Graham Trembath QC for the defence whether he believed his brother had a crush on Ms Howell he replied “no”.

Barry Browning said that prior to the death of their father in November 2016 Browning had been a “typical ordinary family man.”

“He spent a lot of time ferrying his children back and forth.

“He was having a normal average family life.

“He was just an average guy.”

David Browning, 51, of Willow Drive, Seaford, admits manslaughter by diminished responsibility but denies murder.

He is alleged to have become "controlling, possessive and jealous" when it became clear his relationship with Ms Howell was not going to go any further.

He stabbed her 15 times at her home in Sandgate Road, Fiveways, on October 25, then scrawled the word bully on her forehead.

The trial continues.
