A CYCLIST who was involved in a crash with a car has since died.

The 48-year-old man, from Eastbourne, was in a collision with a white Kia C'eed hatchback car in the town on Saturday afternoon.

He had sustained serious injuries in the crash, which happened at the junction of Langney Road with the A259 Susan's Road at 5.20pm.

The man was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton by ambulance, where he died yesterday evening.

The 40-year-old car driver, a woman also from Eastbourne, was not injured in the crash.

Police have renewed an appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have other information to get in touch.

After the Magnificent Motors event took place in Eastbourne on Saturday, officers are keen to speak to the occupants of a classic American-style pick-up truck believed to have been nearby at the time.

Anyone with information can contact Sussex Police online or call 101, quoting Operation Console.
