Police have appealed for witnesses after two teens launched a “vicious” attack that left a man needing hospital treatment.

The attack in East Brighton Park happened on Tuesday between 4pm and 4.20pm, where a 24-year-old man from Benfleet in Essex was sitting on a bench.

He was set upon by two teenagers who are believed to have carried out the assault.

They are described as white, both 5ft 6ins tall and in their late teens. One had short fair hair and was wearing a white t-shirt and shorts, while the other had brown hair and was wearing sunglasses.

The Argus:

Detective Constable Melanie Down is investigating the incident. She said: “This was a vicious and unprovoked attack on a visitor to the city. He suffered a fractured cheek bone which required hospital treatment.

"I'd ask anyone who saw what happened or who helped the victim after he was attacked to come forward.”
