A 47-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead.
The woman, in her 20s, from Crawley, had not turned up to meet her friends as planned so they contacted the police at 10.30pm last night.
Officers went to an address in Highams Hill in Crawley and found the woman dead in bed.
The 47-year-old man was also found in the property with some minor injuries.
He was checked over by an ambulance before being arrested on suspicion of murder.
The man remains in police custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Emma Heater from Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team said: "We are investigating the circumstances of the death and are appealing to anyone with information to please get in touch with us."
