A PENSIONER was dragged 100 yards along the ground by a car as the driver robbed her.
The 67-year-old was pulled through Lady Margaret Road in Crawley on Monday night.
The driver, a man, stopped next to her and asked her for directions, but then leaned out of the window and tried to snatch the woman’s bag.
However, the woman, from Crawley, held on to it as he drove away. The man eventually got away with her bag, which had a small amount of cash in.
She suffered cuts, bruising and grazing, and was treated by paramedics, but declined to go to hospital.
The woman could only say the man was black, and could not see any of his other features. She did not see his registration number.
Detective Sergeant Ian Warncken, of the Crawley investigations team, said: “This was a really distressing experience for the woman, who resisted bravely, but eventually had to let go before she became seriously injured.
“If you saw what happened or if you have any information as to who this man may be, please get in touch with us online or by calling 101, quoting serial 1452 of 28/05.”
