Albion are poised to make a handsome profit from Connor Goldson's move to Glasgow Rangers, which should be confirmed by tomorrow.
The clubs are thrashing out the finer details of the additional clauses to an initial fee well in excess of £3 million.
The Seagulls are likely to eventually receive at least £5 million for the back-up central defender they signed three years ago for £600,000 from Shrewsbury, who inserted a 20 per cent sell-on.
They regard the deal as good business all-round for a player unproven in the Premier League who is desperate for more game time to further his career.
There is little prospect of Goldson, 25, shifting Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy from the centre-back berths at the Amex.
Albion have also added Nigerian World Cup defender Leon Balogun to their options following Uwe Huenemeier's return to Germany with Paderborn.
Goldson's exit to Ibrox will create a vacancy for one more central defender.
A bid from Albion remains on the table for Reading's Liam Moore, one of the candidates.
An offer is also still on the table from the Seagulls for versatile Sunderland midfielder Paddy McNair.
