A MAN caught with an ounce of heroin has been jailed.
Police raided 53-year-old Adam Persad’s Hastings flat on January 11 and found him in possession of the Class A drug and cannabis.
He pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply both drugs at Lewes Crown Court last Wednesday, and was given a 32-month sentence for the heroin offence and a further one month for the cannabis. The sentences are to be served concurrently.
Judge Jeremy Gold also ordered Persad to hand over £965 found on him at the Cambridge Road flat and to pay a victim surcharge of £170.
Chief Inspector Steve Curry said: “I want those dealing in illicit drugs to be quite clear: we are taking steps to find you and bring you before the courts, and there is then every likelihood you will go to prison.”
