THEY are the party which currently holds a minority lead of Brighton and Hove City Council.

Labour MP Peter Kyle also holds the Hove and Portslade seat, and until Caroline Lucas took over in 2010, Labour’s David Lepper held the Brighton Pavilion seat from 1997.

But in the 1980s, both constituencies voted in Conservative MPs.

Labour had their work cut out in Brighton during this time.
