Your article regarding traffic flow (The Argus, August 6) quotes government figures for average speeds during rush hour that would be impossible to achieve even on a Sunday morning.
To achieve an average speed of 29.7mph as quoted, with even moderate traffic and a few stops for traffic lights, your maximum speeds would need to be around 70mph.
No wonder Councillor Geoffrey Theobald thinks that measures are working. He should try crossing town, on one of the few routes that has not been closed off, in rush hour.
