I WENT into shock after reading in The Argus about the presence of the red duster, the Merchant Navy Ensign, flying proudly with the others at the Old Steine War Memorial and the picture of two guys in the picture.
It was I who approached Warren Morgan to ask if our MN flag could fly along with the others.
He replied he would consult the Royal British Legion to get their opinion.
They agreed, so Warren handed over to Diane Coe based at Hove Town Hall. That wonderful lady did all the work, getting the flag poles which had to be funded.
I sent off the cheque and she arranged for the poles to be delivered to her and to be put in place. I then ordered the flags, and handed them to her. She arranged for it to fly along with the others.
A pal of mine Chris Such shared the cost with me.
May I take this opportunity to thank Diane Coe who made the process so easy for me.
