STAFF from an online accountancy firm completed a virtual bike ride competition for its long-term charity partner.
The event was timed to support The Starr Trust’s 360-mile bike ride from Bangor to Brighton.
It is one of many activities organised by Crunch, which is based in Preston Road, Brighton.
Crunch installed a Zwift virtual reality training bike in its office reception so participants could cycle along with the Bangor to Brighton bike ride virtually.
The technology adapted the bike’s settings to reflect the conditions as those on the roads, including difficult gradients.
A total of 33 staff took part in the race in four teams and clocked up 195.5 miles.
Each team was given half a day to cycle and compete for distance.
Darren Fell, chief executive and founder of Crunch, said: “The Starr Trust is a fantastic local charity that makes such a difference to young people.
“For those who couldn’t take part in the real bike ride, a virtual option seemed like the perfect way to raise money for this brilliant cause and give our people a chance to exercise in work time.”
Almost £300 was raised for The Starr Trust, which is in Goldstone Street, Hove.
