A SIGNAL fault at Brighton Station has caused train suspensions.

No Gatwick Express services are running in and out of the city, and the problem is expected to last until 11am.

Gatwick Express tweeted this morning: "Due to a Network Rail signalling fault at Brighton Station, Gatwick Express extensions to Brighton are currently suspended.

Gatwick Express services between London Victoria and Gatwick will run as normal."

Southern Rail said: "Due to a fault with the Network Rail signalling system at Brighton, fewer trains are able to run in and out of the station.

"Disruption is expected until 11am."

A Network Rail spokesman said: “We are very sorry for the disruption passengers have experienced this morning.

"This was due to a signalling problem outside Brighton station during the morning rush hour, which has now been repaired.

“We were able to keep some trains running by rerouting services onto a section of track, which is normally reserved for trains accessing the depot.

"However, not all services, like the Gatwick Express, can travel on this track.

“We’d like to thank passengers for their patience as services return to normal.”
